An Iowa City man was arrested over the weekend after a series of alleged domestic assaults.

According to police documents, the first incident occurred December 22nd at the Super 8 hotel on First Avenue in Coralville. 34-year-old Olufemi Dehinbo of Shady Glen Court and his intimate partner had been living in the room together for over a month when the assault occurred. He had fled the scene before police arrived, and the victim reportedly had a hard time catching her breath because she had been screaming for hours. She had a bleeding bite mark on her finger, allegedly caused by Dehinbo.
The woman claimed that Dehinbo continually held his hand over her mouth and nose to try to stop her from screaming for help, restrained her from getting to her phone to call for help, and suffered an injured knee as a result of the assault.

Dehinbo was identified by a driver’s license previously accessed during a traffic stop.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Domestic Assault restricting Airflow, Domestic Assault causing Injury, and Obstruction of Emergency Communication charges.

A second assault allegedly occurred at the Comfort Inn on 9th Street April 11th. Dehinbo is accused of kicking the woman in the back, pushing her to the ground and continuing to kick and punch her until she screamed for help and he fled. He was again charged with Domestic Assault causing Injury.

The couple were back at the Super 8 on May 9th when he allegedly forcibly entered the room and assaulted the woman a third time. It was learned that she woman was pregnant at the time of the reported assault. Dehinbo was charged with 1st degree Burglary and Assault on a Pregnant Person causing Injury.

He was booked at the Johnson County Jail Saturday afternoon. If convicted on all charges against him, Dehinbo could be sentenced to over 34 years in prison.
No-Contact orders were requested after all three incidents.
