An Iowa City woman faces jail time after allegedly taking care of her children in unsafe conditions.

Police were called to the Town and Campus Apartments residence of 36-year-old Corina Jordan Wednesday night on reports of a female beating two young children.  Upon arrival, Jordan reportedly exhibited several signs of drug use. According to the criminal complaint, it was apparent that Jordan was under the influence of a narcotic and unable to properly take care of her children.

The officer on scene noted that the children were living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions and were being placed in substantial risk.

Jordan was arrested and charged with Child Endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years if convicted.

Jordan was released on her own recognizance pending arraignment, and was ordered to have no contact with her children unless approved by the Iowa Department of Human Services.
