An Iowa City woman has been charged with dependent adult abuse and tampering with records after allegedly neglecting a woman in her care.

According to the complaint filed by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, 32-year-old Jessica Greenwood of Bittersweet Court was working at a memory care facility February 12th into the 13th.  One of the residents wandered off into the parking lot partially disrobed without shoes or socks for several hours, but Greenwood allegedly noted in the woman’s charts that she took the woman to the bathroom at 2am and at 5am. Security camera footage reportedly refutes Greenwood’s official record, and the woman wasn’t returned to the unit until approximately 6:42am.

Greenwood was also accused of failing to provide the minimum supervision, physical or mental care, or other care necessary to all 16 tenants in the memory care unit during that shift.

A warrant was issued on June 7th, and she was arrested Wednesday. Greenwood faces two counts of Dependent Adult Abuse and one count of Tampering with Records. If convicted on the charges, she faces a prison term of up to five years.
