A North Liberty woman has been arrested in Minnesota after she allegedly crashed a vehicle with a dead body in the backseat.

The Olmstead County Sheriff’s Office reports the body in the backseat belonged to the owner of the vehicle, 35-year-old Liara Kaylee Tsai.

32-year-old Margot Lewis, who was originally identified as from New Liberty, is being held on $1 million bail on a felony charge.

The crash occurred around 7am Saturday southeast of Rochester, Minnesota. Authorities on scene said it was clear Tsai’s death wasn’t because of the crash, and a check of her Minneapolis residence found signs of violence. Her initial cause of death was listed as due to multiple sharp-force injuries.

Authorities say Lewis and Tsai were romantically involved.
