A Coralville man was arrested after an escalated altercation that reportedly involved him chasing a victim with a screwdriver.

The incident took place just before 5pm Sunday on the 800 block of Weeber Street.  39-year-old Mahmoud Game was driving on Benton Drive and saw the victim passing in the opposite direction. Police say the victim made a u-turn and followed Game as he pulled onto Weeber and parked.

The victim approached Game’s car and asked him to get out of the vehicle.  He reportedly grabbed a screwdriver as he exited and allegedly swung the screwdriver at the man, injuring his hand.  Game reportedly chased the man still holding the screwdriver. A witness saw the altercation and called police.

Game had left the scene by the time officers arrived, but the witness was able to get the license plate off of Game’s vehicle. He was stopped moments later, and the screwdriver was allegedly found inside the vehicle.

Game was arrested and charged with Going Armed with Intent, Assault while displaying a Dangerous Weapon, and Willful Injury causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to twelve years in prison.
