An Iowa City man arrested on a Domestic Assault charge faces additional charges after allegedly scuffling with police and damaging a squad car.

Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of South Lucas Street Sunday morning for a report of a fight in progress between two domestic partners. Upon arrival, the victim reported being in an argument with 34-year-old Lincoln Kimmel when he became increasingly agitated.  She attempted to call 911, when Kimmel allegedly tried to grab her phone away and scratched her wrist.

Officers placed Kimmel under arrest for Domestic Assault. As they tried to escort him to the squad car, he allegedly violently kicked the vehicle and pulled away from officers before falling to the ground. His actions reportedly left a dent in the driver’s side quarter panel that has an estimated repair cost of $1000.

Kimmel faces additional charges of Interference with Official Acts and 3rd degree Criminal Mischief.  If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 26 months in jail.

A no-contact order was requested between Kimmel and the woman.
