A Coralville man who reportedly was drinking with his friends in a public parking lot returned to his residence and allegedly assaulted a woman.
The incident occurred on the 500 block of 5th Street just before 1:30am Sunday. 27-year-old Jesus Castillo Castillo reportedly had been the lot of the residence drinking, and once he went home reportedly began banging on the door. Once he entered his residence, he allegedly punched the woman in the face. She retreated into the bedroom and locked the door, but Castillo Castillo reportedly broke the door to gain entry and punched the woman in the face again.
The victim then went into the bathroom, followed by Castillo Castillo. He allegedly grabbed her by the hair and pulled her. She reportedly retaliated by scratching at him, causing him to let go and leave the residence.
The victim suffered a hematoma on her right eye and a split lower lip.
Upon contact, Castillo Castillo allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes and the odor of ingested alcohol. He reportedly admitted to drinking over 10 beers, and a post arrest PBT showed his breath-alcohol level at .211 percent.
Castillo Castillo was charged with Domestic Assault causing Injury and Public Intoxication. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail. A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
