Iowa City woman accused of falsely reporting a subject threatened her with a firearm

An Iowa City woman is accused of making a false report to police about a man she claimed threatened her with a firearm.
38-year-old Monica Williams of Cross Park Avenue called 9-1-1 just after 8:30 on the night of May 19th to report a man with a gun was threatening to kill her. The suspect was searched, but no gun was found.
Camera footage obtained of the incident reportedly shows Williams calling 9-1-1 in the man’s presence, but no gun is ever seen.
Williams is charged with Making a False Report of an Indictable Offense to a Public Entity. If convicted, she faces a maximum of one year in jail.
Williams was charged with Disorderly Conduct five days later when she reportedly got into an altercation near the intersection of Boyrum Street and Olympic Court.
