A Washington County man has been arrested as a suspect in a Solon burglary case.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old Skylar Smith of Washington backed into  a driveway on Cedar Bend Drive just before 10:30 on the morning of May 10th, removed a set of golf clubs from an open garage, loaded them into the back of his 2018 Toyota Camry, and quickly drove away. Smith allegedly sold the clubs later that day in North Liberty. He was identified as the suspect by security video from the scene and by the buyer of the clubs. Cellphone data also places Smith at the scene at the time of the theft.

Smith is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, 3rd Degree Theft and Driving While Barred. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of nine years in prison.
