Allegedly attacking the father of her child with a knife has led to a Coralville woman’s arrest.
Iowa City Police were called to a domestic dispute at the Pheasant Ridge Apartments on Bartelt Road just before 7:30 Wednesday night. An investigation determined that 30-year-old Dasha Barton of Boston Way went to the apartment of her child’s father and started an argument. While outside, Barton reportedly brandished a knife, threatened to slit the man’s throat, and swung it at him several times. The father of the child was not injured.
Video shows the man walking away from Barton as she pursued him following the alleged attack. Police say he fled into his apartment, but Barton followed him inside without permission and continued the threats.
Barton is charged with 1st Degree Burglary and Domestic Abuse Assault While Displaying a Weapon. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of 27 years in prison.
