Area transient with history of trespassing and petty thefts charged with criminal mischief

An area transient with a history of petty theft charges has been charged with trespass and criminal mischief.

32-year old Yshan Rogers was reportedly in an apartment building on East Burlington Street at around 9:30am June 3rd.  He allegedly entered without permission and proceeded to the basement, where he broke into a locked room.

Rogers reportedly caused $500 in damage to doors and locks to get to the basement.

He allegedly remained there and caused extensive damage. According to the arrest report, Rogers punched holes in the drywall, ruined the flooring, and discharged a fire extinguisher.

It was estimated that total costs to repair and replace the damage Rogers caused exceed $5100.

He was charged with 2nd degree Criminal Mischief and Trespass causing Damage. If convicted on both counts, Rogers could face up to six years in prison.
