One person killed in Muscatine County crash

A motorcyclist was killed and another injured in a three-vehicle crash in Muscatine County Monday afternoon.

The Iowa State Patrol says the incident occurred on Highway 38 at its intersection with Brookview Road just north of Muscatine a little after 3:30pm.

The driver of a 2022 Kawasaki was heading southbound on Highway 38 when it hit a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder that was attempting to make a westbound turn onto Brookview Road. The cyclist ended up in the northbound late, where it was struck by a 2011 Jeep Liberty.

The motorcyclist was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where they were pronounced dead. The driver of the Pathfinder was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries. The Jeep driver wasn’t injured.

The names of the parties involved are being withheld at this time. Investigation into the fatal accident continues.
