A North Liberty man was arrested Saturday after assaulting his live-in partner over the noise her children were making.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 9:45am in the Beaver Kreek Center apartment shared by 42-year-old Curtis Bell and the victim.  The two allegedly got into an argument over the woman’s kids being too loud.  Bell reportedly shoved the woman down, causing pain and fear for her safety.  He also allegedly threatened to kill her during the assault.

One of the children reportedly told Bell to leave their mother alone after the incident, and he allegedly grabbed her arm and left a red mark. He also allegedly took a phone from someone who was trying to call 911.

A check of Bell’s criminal record found a prior conviction for Domestic Assault causing Injury in Johnson County from 2002. He was charged with a second offense, Child Endangerment causing Bodily Injury, and Obstruction of Emergency Communications. If convicted on all counts, Bell could be sentenced to over seven years in prison.

A no-contact order was requested by the victims.
