An Iowa City man wanted since December after failing to return to Hope House was arrested after an alleged domestic assault.

Officers were called to the victim’s apartment Saturday just before 6:30pm. She told police that 29-year-old Christopher Dahlhauser was staying at her apartment without her permission.  She accused Dahlhauser of charging at her and attempting to punch her. He then reportedly grabbed her by both arms and threw her down on the ground.  Dahlhauser allegedly pinned her to the ground, causing rug burn on her arms.

Dahlhauser was convicted of 3rd degree Burglary and 2nd degree Theft from a September 2022 incident. He received a five year suspended sentence and given two years probation. He was assigned to Hope House on November 15th 2023, and signed out on December 15th after getting permission to go to the Coralville Walmart. He failed to return, and a warrant was issued December 18th.

Dahlhauser faces a simple misdemeanor charge of Domestic Assault. A no-contact order was issued, and a non jury trial set for July 5th.

A probation revocation hearing was scheduled for August 1st.
