City of Iowa City news release
Public feedback sought on Iowa City Transit’s Disadvantaged Business program |
Iowa City Transit invites the public to give feedback on its proposed Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program. The public comment period will be Monday, June 3, until 5 p.m. July 2, 2024.
What is the DBE program? As a condition of using federal funding from the Federal Transit Administration, Iowa City Transit is required to maintain a DBE program, which outlines actions that Iowa City Transit takes to encourage or facilitate DBEs to participate in contract solicitations. The Iowa Department of Transportation certifies DBEs and Iowa City Transit utilizes their directory to confirm a company’s status. This program aims to ensure nondiscrimination in the awarding and administrating of DOT-assisted contracts and to create a level playing field for DBEs to compete with those contracts. Iowa City Transit invites public comment on the proposed program that can be found on the City Transit webpage. The program document is also on file in the Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County (MPOJC) Office, located in the lower level of City Hall, 410 E. Washington St. The public comment period concludes at close of business, 5 p.m. on July 2, 2024. How do I provide feedback?Any interested persons may submit feedback, written or electronically, to Hannah Neel, Associate Transportation Planner for the Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County, 410 E. Washington St., Iowa City, IA, 52240, hneel@iowa-city.org, for the purpose of making objections to or comments concerning the program. |
