Iowa City Police have arrested a man they say assaulted and robbed his live-in girlfriend.
19-year-old Andre Johnson was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 4:45 Saturday afternoon. According to arrest records, just before 6:30 on the night of April 28th Johnson was involved in a physical altercation with a woman with whom he had been in an on-and-off relationship. They’ve also lived together within the last year. Police say the woman had bruising and cuts on her face, neck, arms and legs.
At one point, Johnson allegedly took the woman’s wallet, said he was going to kill her, said he was going to shoot her in the face, and told her he hopes someone rapes her. Johnson reportedly walked away with the woman’s wallet before dropping it and fleeing from his East Bloomington Street residence when he heard police sirens.
Johnson is charged with 2nd Degree Robbery, 1st Degree Harassment and Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 13 years in prison.
