June 1st traditionally marks the start of “Meteorological Summer”, and with highs forecast in the mid-to-upper 80’s through much of the next week, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is issuing some warnings for those who want to visit Coralville Lake in the immediate future.
The Corps says in a post on the official Coralville Lake Facebook page that due to high waters, Sandy Beach Campground is inaccessible from the eastern portion of Sandy Beach Road, the gravel road access for bikes in the Sugar Bottom Day Use Area is impassable, and courtesy docks have been removed from the Sandy Beach Boat Ramp and the West Overlook Campground Boat Ramp.
The Corps says it will be updating closures and announcing reopenings on the official Coralville Lake Facebook page. To get more information regarding water levels, the Corps suggests visiting rivergages.com.
