An Iowa City area transient was trespassed after refusing to leave an apartment.

Officers were called to the Town and Campus Apartments on Arthur Street May 19th after 31-year-old Sarah Stroup reportedly refused to leave. According to the resident, Stroup was allowed to stay for a couple of nights to figure out her next move after becoming homeless.  When the resident asked her to leave, Strop allegedly refused.

When officers informed her she was no longer welcomed on the property and had to leave, she reportedly became upset and started screaming while pounding on the door of the resident’s apartment.  Stroup received numerous warnings to leave the property or be subject to arrest. Police say she continued to resist and had to be physically removed from the complex.

A warrant was issued on May 20th; Stroup was charged Wednesday with Interference with Official Acts and given a trespass warning. She could face up to 30 days in jail if convicted.
