Iowa City Police Department seeking public’s help in armed robbery investigation

Iowa City Police are asking for the public’s help with their investigation into an armed robbery.

According to a release from the Department, officers responded to 1310 S. Gilbert Street at 10pm Monday for a victim – an adult man – who reported he had been robbed. The victim said he had been walking north on the nearby railroad tracks when he was approached by a man and woman who robbed him at knifepoint.

One assailant was described as a Black man in his early 30s, approximately 5’6″, with short hair and dressed in black. The man was carrying a collapsible knife. The other assailant was described as a Black woman, approximately 28 years old, 5’3″, with short, curly hair, and gray clothing.

In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the Iowa City Police Department with any potential footage or information about this incident.
