An Iowa City man was charged with two counts of contempt after violating a no-contact order.

69-year-old Darrill Johnson of East Burlington Street had been arrested on May 19th for 1st offense domestic assault and domestic assault impeding airflow.  He appeared before a Johnson County judge the next day and was issued a no-contact order.

That afternoon, the victim and her friend observed Johnson at her residence. Johnson had been allowed one time visit that morning, but returned a few hours later and was sitting on the front porch.

The woman lives on the top floor of her apartment complex; Johnson reportedly has no friends or relatives at the building and had no business being there.

While the victim was speaking with officers about the incident, she received a call from Johnson, but did not speak when she answered.  The area was checked but Johnson was nowhere to be found.

A follow up visit with the victim was conducted on May 24th.  The woman told police that Johnson had contacted her earlier in the day while he was at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  Johnson was contacted by police, and he allegedly admitted to calling the protected party.

Johnson was charged with two contempt charges and another no-contact order was requested by the victim.
