A Town & Campus Apartments resident was taken into custody Sunday night after an alleged assault on the mother of his child.

Officers were called to the Arthur Street residence of 32-year-old Marquise Foster just before 10:30pm on reports of a fight. The victim stated that she and Foster have a 7 month old child together. According to the woman, Foster struck her in the face and strangled her.

The victim had scratches on her face, blood on the inside of her lip, and was still complaining that it was hard to breathe.  The woman’s mother was also on scene and reportedly corroborated the victim’s narrative.

Both the victim and her mother told officers that Foster tried to take the victim’s phone from her when she was trying to call 911.

Foster was arrested, and faces one count each of 2nd offense Domestic Assault, Domestic Assault Impeding Airflow, and Obstruction of Emergency Communications.  If convicted on all charges, he could be sentenced to over four years in jail.

A no-contact order was requested.
