The suspect in an Iowa City sexual abuse case involving minors faces a new charge after a search of his cellphones allegedly turned up child porn.

43-year-old Munga Sapo of the Lake Ridge manufactured housing community was already being held at the Johnson County Jail on numerous charges. They include eight counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse, three counts of 1st Degree Harassment, two counts of Incest, and one count apiece of Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, Assault With Intent to Commit Serious Injury, and Child Endangerment.

Sapo’s cellphones were seized as part of the investigations and the data was extracted pursuant to a search warrant.

On Wednesday, an officer began reviewing the files and reportedly discovered a video on both phones depicting a pre-pubescent boy engaged in a sex act. It appeared that the video was sent through WhatsApp.

Sapo was charged with Possession of the Depiction of a Minor in a Sex Act, a Class D felony. Added to all the other charges against him, he now faces a possible sentence of up to 236 years in prison.
