An Iowa City man has been charged for two separate incidents at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Police say 33-year-old Jonathan Neuzil of South Lucas Street was in a hospital room at around 1:45pm May 8th when he allegedly put four holes in the walls. The actions reportedly damaged some electrical wiring behind the wall as well.  Neuzil also allegedly damaged some tiles in the room’s bathroom.

Maintenance staff estimated cost of repair at over $2500.

The next afternoon, Neuzil allegedly kicked a hole into drywall at the hospital while he was solely assigned to the room.

A warrant for Neuzil’s arrest was issued on May 13th; he was served on Thursday and faces  2nd and 5th degree Criminal Mischief charges. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to over five years in prison.

Neuzil appeared in court yesterday and was released on his own recognizance. A public defender was ordered appointed; however, the first two have both filed motions to withdraw from representing Neuzil.
