A final goodbye celebration for Hills Elementary School is set for 5:30-8 Thursday night.
Former students, parents, teachers, staff members and community residents are welcome to have one last look around before the school closes for good.
There will be a slideshow going throughout the night, a photo booth, school tours, and more. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.
A free dinner from the Johnson County Pork Producers will be served from 5:30-7:00 for those who sent an RSVP prior to May 12th. The meal includes a pork burger, chips, a drink, and a cupcake.
The Iowa City Community school board voted earlier this year to close Hills Elementary in a cost-cutting measure. All teachers and staff members from Hills are being relocated within the district, and current Hills students will be transferred to Alexander Elementary.
