Allegedly burglarizing a home where she was taking care of the pets has led to an Iowa City woman’s arrest.

Iowa City Police say 39-year-old Jennifer Isbell was providing basic animal care to pets at an address on Dover Street between Valentine’s Day and February 19th while the owners were out of town. The resident told investigators that Isbell only had permission to be in the living room. On the first day Isbell was watching the pets, she allegedly picked a lock to a bedroom and stole about $1,000 in property. Witnesses say Isbell sold the items the next day at Money & More on South Riverside Drive, which was reportedly corroborated by a receipt.

Police took Isbell into custody at her residence in the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street just after 7:15 Saturday night. She allegedly resisted arrest.

Isbell is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, 3rd Degree Theft and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of over seven years in prison.
