A suspect accused of possessing hundreds of child pornography images in Iowa City has reached a plea deal.
31-year-old Christopher Pohlman of Westgate Street was arrested last month after police say he knowingly promoted visual depictions of minors engaging in sex acts by transmitting photos over Tumblr beginning on November 7th, 2020.
Additionally, beginning in September 2018, Pohlman allegedly collected approximately 1,200 images and videos depicting children engaged in sex acts. Investigators reportedly found the images in social media data and digital devices associated with Pohlman.
Pohlman was charged with Purchase or Depiction of Minors involved in a sex act, and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. If convicted on both counts, he could have been sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
Terms of the plea deal and a sentencing date have not yet been set.
