UI Student faces drug charges

A University of Iowa student faces felony charges after a search of his residence allegedly turned up a quantity of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Officers with the Iowa City Police Department executed a search warrant on the Oakcrest Street residence of 22-year-old Michal Stanisz from the Chicago suburb of Hickory Hills the evening of January 12th.  The search allegedly turned up approximately 75 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, 14 grams of marijuana and various drug paraphernalia. It was determined that his residence was used for keeping, selling and using controlled substances.

An arrest warrant was issued and served Thursday.

Stanisz has been charged with a Class C Controlled Substance violation, Marijuana possession, and Keeping Premises for Controlled Substances. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 13 years in prison.
