The Iowa City Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, has endorsed various candidates for the June 4th primary election.

The ICFL announced Friday it’s endorsing Lisa Green-Douglass, Royceann Porter and Rod Sullivan for the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, Brad Kunkel for Johnson County Sheriff, Christina Bohannan for U.S. Representative, Ed Chabal for State Senator, and Ed Chabal, Amy Nielsen, Dave Jacoby, Elinor Levin,  Adam Zabner, and Anna Banowsky for State Representative.

Union representatives say candidates were endorsed based on demonstrated track records of commitments to maintain productive collective bargaining relationships with public employees, support the rights of all workers to organize, adopt fair contracting standards that ensure public investments create living-wage jobs, increase access to high-quality apprenticeship training for local residents from historically disadvantaged groups, and strengthen local monitoring and enforcement to prevent wage theft and violations of health and safety, child labor, or other workplace laws.

The endorsements and reasoning behind them can be found on the Iowa City Federation of Labor Facebook page.
