A local transient with a history of breaking into Iowa City laundry machines and stealing quarters faces a new charge for the same offense.

32-year-old Yshan Rogers was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 6:45 Sunday night. According to arrest records, security video captured Rogers breaking into a laundry machine at 422 South Dubuque Street just before 12:45 on the afternoon of April 12th. Iowa City Police say he opened the coin box and stole about $5 in quarters. Rogers was identified by his tattoos, and he was wearing the same sweatshirt he wore two days earlier when speaking with a police officer.

Rogers has previous theft convictions for breaking into laundry machines on North and South Linn Streets. He now faces a new charge of 3rd Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
