A reported fight inside the Iowa City Public Library has led to charges against a Coralville man.
Iowa City Police were called to the South Linn Street facility at 1:00 Saturday afternoon for a physical altercation. Video evidence reportedly showed 21-year-old Steven Monson of The Iowa Lodge on The Coralville Strip punched the alleged victim several times while the two were on the ground. Police say Monson then stood up and kicked the other person in the face, causing pain, redness and discomfort.
Investigators report Monson admitted over the phone to being involved in the fight.
Monson is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
