An Iowa City man accused of domestic abuse earlier this month now faces sexual assault and incest charges.

43-year-old Munga Sapo of the Lake Ridge manufactured housing community was already being held at the Johnson County Jail on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, Child Endangerment and two counts of 1st Degree Harassment. Johnson County deputies say he assaulted his wife on different occasions and threatened to kill her, all while the couple’s children were present.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office now says Sapo sexually assaulted two children inside the home in March and April. Investigators came to that conclusion after interviews with the two children and examinations by medical experts.

Sapo now faces two additional counts each of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse and Incest. If convicted on all pending charges against him, Sapo faces a maximum of 77 years in prison.
