North Liberty man charged with April assault

A North Liberty man has been taken into custody after an alleged assault last month.

According to the police report, the incident occurred at a residence on Holiday Road just before 11:30 pm April 14tth.  57-year-old Leo Neuzil of Nicholas Lane allegedly  jumped onto the victim and pinned her to the ground.  While there, he reportedly strangled the woman with his hands.

The victim was observed with multiple bruises on the rear of her neck and shoulder blade, as well as scratch marks near the rear of her neck.

A warrant for Neuzil’s arrest was issued on April 17th; he was booked at the Johnson County Jail Tuesday. Neuzil could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted on the charge, Assault causing Bodily Injury. A no-contact order was issued by Judge Brandon Schrock the following day.
