A University of Iowa student was arrested after allegedly running from officers checking on his welfare.

20-year-old Alexander Georgiev was reportedly seen laying in an alleyway in the 200 block of South Clinton just before 1:30am Friday.  When officers went to check on him, he allegedly began to run and ignored police commands to stop.

Georgiev was apprehended, and reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, the odor of ingested alcohol and was wearing two bar wrist bands. A post arrest search allegedly turned up two fraudulent drivers licenses along with his real license.

He’s been charged with Interference with Official Acts, Public Intoxication, and Possession of Fake ID. If convicted on all counts, Georgiev could be sentenced to a maximum 14 months in jail.
