A patient at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is accused of biting a security guard.
UI Police say 28-year-old James Ginneberge of the Iowa Lodge on the Coralville Strip was in the UIHC emergency department at 5:15 Monday morning when he tried to leave. Ginneberge was on a hold, so security intervened. During the ensuing scuffle near the front desk, Ginneberge allegedly bit the officer on the shoulder, breaking the skin. The guard also has minor cuts and scratches on their hands.
Ginneberge is charged with Assault With Intent to Inflict Serious Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
