HyVee is expanding into Indiana with the acquisition of a food chain there.
KCRG TV reports the acquisition of the Strack & Van Til Food chain will add 22 stores and about 2800 employees into the HyVee family.
The deal is expected to be completed early next month; Strack & Van Til will operate as a subsidiary of HyVee and keep its name.
Iowa-based HyVee has over 550 locations featuring grocery and drug stores, pharmacies, restaurants, gas and convenience stores.
