An Iowa City man was arrested after allegedly threatening to murder a man he shares a residence with and a woman who worked there because they were “in his reality.”
According to the arrest report, 47-year-old Jeffery Naughton walked into the residence the afternoon of April 8th and told the woman working there that if nobody stopped him, “something bad would happen.” The woman attempted to avoid Naughton by walking out to her vehicle, but he allegedly followed her, stated that she was, quote, “in his reality.” Naughton then reportedly threatened to murder her if she didn’t leave. The woman retreated to her vehicle and called police.
Naughton also allegedly told a man outside in the yard who he shares the residence with that he, too, was “in his reality,” and if he didn’t leave he would murder him.
Police arrested Naughton and charged him with two counts of 3rd degree Harassment.
Judge Jason Burns issued a no-contact order between Naughton and the two individuals involved; a non-jury trial is scheduled for May 10th.
