1 dead, 3 airlifted to UIHC after Muscatine County crash

One person has died and three others were airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a vehicle hit a deer in Muscatine County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the vehicle in question was northbound on Burlington Road in Muscatine just before 8:15 Saturday night when it struck a deer, left the roadway, and rolled multiple times before coming to rest in the ditch. A 58-year-old Muscatine resident died at the scene. A 33-year-old and a 30-year-old from Muscatine were both taken to the UIHC, as was a 31-year-old Letts resident. None of the four were wearing seat belts. Their conditions have not been released.

The names of the victims have not yet been released. The accident remains under investigation.
