The University of Iowa has reportedly pulled funding for an organization dedicated to helping victims of sexual assault.

According to the Rape Victim Advocacy Program, or RVAP, the university did not ask or consult with anyone at their organization before making the decision to halt funding. The group says their actions will put all of their student workers and full time staff out of work.

RVAP is not just campus-based. They provide free, confidential and trauma-informed services to anyone directly or indirectly impacted by sexual violence in Cedar, Des Moines, Henry, Iowa, Johnson, Lee, Washington, and Van Buren counties. Their services are all-inclusive and not limited to individuals of any age, gender, identity, or culture.

A closing date has not been announced.

A rally is planned for Saturday at the Pentacrest starting at 1pm for those who wish to show support for the RVAP.
