A Coralville man faces felony charges after allegedly attempting to entice an underage child to have sex with him.

Police say 35-year-old Adam Vanourney of Holiday Road began communicating with a subject he believed to be under 16 years of age, and reportedly talked about sexual acts that he wanted to perform with the juvenile.  He then allegedly made arrangements to meet with the juvenile so they could engage in the described sex acts.

Vanourney arrived at a pre-determined Iowa City location late Monday morning, where he was approached by police. When confronted, he allegedly threw down a wadded-up time sheet containing a baggie of suspected methamphetamine.

Vanourney was charged with Enticing a Minor under 16 for Sexual Purposes, and a 3rd or subsequent Controlled Substance violation.  He faces up to ten years in prison if convicted on both counts.
