An area transient has been arrested for his alleged assault on a woman who has a no-contact order against him.

Officers were called to the Town and Campus Apartments parking lot the afternoon of March 30th on reports of an assault. Upon arrival, they met with the reporting party, who had lacerations on her hands, contusions and swelling on her face, and contusions on her forearms. She told police that she had gotten into an argument with 34-year-old Courtney Kendrick, who began repeatedly punching her in the face.  A witness was located who was able to corroborate the woman’s narrative.

A no-contact order had currently in effect between the two since February 20th, with Kendrick facing a Domestic Abuse Assault charge in relation to that order being issued.

A warrant was issued for Kendrick’s arrest on April 1st and he was arrested the next day. He faces a domestic abuse assault with injury charge, a serious misdemeanor. Judge Jason Burns issued a second no-contact order between the parties involved on Tuesday, when Kendrick was released to the Department of Correctional Services.
