Iowa City man allegedly threatened to beat up his wife just days after being convicted for domestic assault

An Iowa City man who pled guilty to assaulting and choking his wife reportedly threatened to beat her up just days afterwards.

Police say 34-year-old Elliott Young of Rushmore Drive allegedly called his wife  March 31st using his cellphone to discuss issues with custody of their juvenile son.  During the conversation, Young reportedly could be heard on voice recording, asking his wife is she wants him to beat her up. He also allegedly said that she would lose her son if she called police after the beating.

Young’s wife said the threat put her in fear for her safety.

Young was charged with 2nd degree Harassment, a serious misdemeanor. Last week, a no-contact order was granted between the couple.

Just three days earlier, Young was convicted of Domestic Abuse Assault impeding Airflow causing Bodily Injury, with a second charge of Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury being dropped. He was sentenced to 2 years probation.
