A Defiance, Ohio man was arrested last week after being found walking along Interstate 80 and reportedly possessing meth.

Authorities found 55-year-old Wayne Stewart near the eastbound 236 ½ mile marker. A check of his identity found that he was wanted out of Ohio and was extraditable.

Stewart was taken into custody and when searched was asked if he had any weaponry on him, which he denied. He was wearing multiple coats when picked up. One of them allegedly contained a plastic container which had suspected methamphetamine and a glass pipe with what was believed to be drug residue.

Stewart was charged with second offense Controlled Substance possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He faces up to 13 months in jail if convicted on both charges.

Earlier this year, Stewart was identified as one of the individuals who had set up residence in a vacant Iowa City Marketplace business.  On the afternoon of February 12th, he reportedly approached a subject he believed to be riding a stolen bike, displayed a kitchen knife and pointed it at the cyclist. The man tried to get away on the bicycle, but Stewart reportedly chased him a short distance with the knife still in his hand.

He was arrested and charged with Assault while Displaying a Dangerous Weapon. On Thursday he was sentenced to 180 days in jail, all but 21 suspended, and a year’s probation.
