An Iowa City man was arrested for operating while intoxicated Saturday night on his birthday after finding out that his alcohol consumption was more than enough to put him over the legal limit.

Officers stopped 23 year old Jose Pacheco of Stanwyck Drive on Dane Road Saturday night for investigation of a fight. Upon contact, an immediate overwhelming odor of consumed alcohol was allegedly observed. Pacheo reportedly stated he had “only one” pitcher of beer before getting behind the wheel.

After performing poorly on field tests, he provided a PBT and Datamaster. Both came back with BAC’s of .133 percent.

Pacheo was charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
