The Johnson County Board of Supervisors have cleared up a misunderstanding about them halting an affordable housing initiative.
CBS 2 reports that the Board is redirecting $1.5 million for the project to the county’s general funds.
Supervisor Jon Green said Supervisor Rod Sullivan’s comments about halting the project during a recent work session were taken out of context. He said the board is halting the allocation of American Rescue Plan Act funds because those funds need to be finalized by the end of the year, and the county’s affordable housing plan is still in development.
Green says the ARPA funds will be replaced with general county funds, and frees up those federal monies to fund other projects.
