A Coralville woman faces prison time after a traffic stop reportedly turned up crystal meth.

29-year-old Chyann Edwards of 2nd Street was stopped on the 700 block of East Washington Street Thursday just before 9pm on an alleged traffic offense. A police service dog was deployed and alerted to drugs in the vehicle.

During a probable cause search, police allegedly found a backpack with Edwards’ state ID, a sandwich bag containing over 26 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and cash in denominations commonly associated with the sale of drugs.

Edwards was charged with a Class B Controlled Substance violation, Failure to Affix Tax Stamp, and Keeping Vehicle for Controlled Substances. If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to up to 32 years in prison.
