New Iowa City Transit detours announced for Gilbert Street Bridge Replacement Project

Staring Monday, April 8, 2024, Gilbert Street will be closed to traffic from Court Street to Prentiss Street. The project will impact the 1-South Iowa City, 4-Downtown Shuttle, and 5-Lower Muscatine routes.

Three temporary bus stops will be added during this project:

• Dubuque Street at Court Street inbound
• Gilbert Street at Bowery Street inbound
• Prentiss Street at Gilbert Street outbound

Outbound detours for when the bridge is closed

• 1-South Iowa City – Washington to Dodge to Bowery to Gilbert (Stop 7500 and stop 7007 closed)
• 4-Downtown Shuttle- No Detour outbound
• 5-Lower Muscatine- Court to Dubuque to Prentiss to Bowery (Stop 7005 closed)

Inbound detours for when the bridge is closed

• 1-South Iowa City- Gilbert to Prentiss to Dubuque to Court (Stop 7003, 7004, and 7008 closed)
• 4-Downtown Shuttle- Bowery to Prentiss to Dubuque to Court (Stop 7003 and stop 7004 closed)
• 5-Lower Muscatine- Bowery to Prentiss to Dubuque to Court (Stop 7003 and 7004 closed)
