A Hope House resident who tested positive for the use of methamphetamine allegedly came up with a unique excuse earlier this week.
38-year-old Joseph Moore began staying at the Holiday Road facility on Halloween of last year due to convictions for violating the Iowa Sex Offender Registry and for Escape From Custody. The Department of Correctional Services says since then Moore has failed to address his physical and mental health, as directed, and has failed to accomplish anything required of him. Moore last left the facility on his own on March 6th.
Corrections officials say Moore tested positive for methamphetamine on March 20th. On Wednesday, he reportedly admitted to using meth while inside the facility, allegedly claiming , “It just appeared in my sinus cavity.”
Moore now faces a probation violation.
