The University of Iowa’s Mayflower Residence Hall, which was put up for sale over a year ago, is no longer on the market.
The Daily Iowan reports UI public relations manager Chris Brewer said the UI is not actively marketing Mayflower Hall due to record-level housing applications and space needed for first-year students. Officials have upgrades planned for the building, including more study lounges.
The hall houses over 1000 students.
The news comes after campus officials announced that Parklawn Residence Hall will not be open for the upcoming school year.
The University opted to put Mayflower on the market due to a report indicating residents there had lower grade point averages among first-year students than their peers in dorms closer to campus.
