Clark named Player of the year by Sporting News and All American by AP

University of Iowa senior guard Caitlin Clark was named the National Player of the Year by Sporting News on Wednesday. She was also recognized as a First Team selection by the outlet.

Additionally, Clark was named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press on Wednesday. Clark is the first player in program history to be named an AP First Team All-American in three consecutive seasons. Clark made the Second Team in her freshman year.

The two accolades add to Clark’s collection of awards this season. They include:

– ESPN.com National Player of the Year
– The Athletic National Player of the Year
– USBWA First Team All-America
– Big Ten Player of the Year
– First Team All-Big Ten
-11 Big Ten Player of the Week awards
-8 WBCA National Player of the Week awards
-3 AP National Player of the Week awards

She is also the only player in NCAA DI men’s or women’s basketball history to lead her conference in scoring and assists in four consecutive seasons.

Clark and the Hawkeyes face the winner of Thursday’s Holy Cross-UT Martin game Saturday afternoon at 2 in Round 1 of the Women’s NCAA tournament. The game airs on ABC.
