A Cedar Rapids man is accused of leading police on a brief chase through North Liberty.
North Liberty Police say they observed a 2023 Toyota Camry blow through a stop sign at Stewart and Cherry Streets just before 8:15 Friday night. Arrest records indicate the vehicle was driving down the middle of the street, and an officer attempted a traffic stop after the car failed to stop at stop signs at Cherry and Front Streets and Cherry and Dubuque Streets.
The driver, identified as 40-year-old Lawrence Glover of Crestridge Drive NW, eventually pulled over. Police say they could smell the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Glover allegedly drove away after he gave the officer his ID, and a brief chase ensued. He pulled over near the intersection of Whitman Avenue and Dickenson Drive and allegedly fled on foot behind some houses on the north side of the street. Police say he eventually returned to the scene and was taken into custody.
Glover is charged with Eluding, Interference With Official Acts, and multiple traffic violations. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
